Terms

The deal, in plain English

What you get, what we ask, how the money works, and the limits of what a nutrition app can responsibly claim.

Not yet lawyer-reviewed. This document has not been reviewed by a lawyer. It is an accurate, plain-English description of what the app and its servers actually do, written from the code, and published so you can hold us to it. It will be replaced by a reviewed version; if that version changes anything material about how we handle your data, we will tell you before it applies.
Awaiting the operator’s details. This document is missing the governing law and courts. Those are decisions only the operator can make, and we would rather leave them visibly blank than fill them with something plausible and wrong.

The short version

Knoomi is a subscription. It renews until you cancel, and you cancel in the App Store or wherever you subscribed. It gives you guidance about food, not medical advice — every number in it is an estimate. Use it for yourself, keep your login to yourself, and if something goes wrong tell us and we will try to put it right.

Who you are contracting with

These terms are an agreement between you and EpicTech Solutions LLC, 1209 Mountain Road Pl NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110, United States — the company that operates Knoomi.

Who may use Knoomi

You must be at least 16, and old enough to enter a contract where you live. One account is one person: it is not shared between people, because the whole product is built around one body's data.

You are responsible for keeping access to your account secure. If you think someone else has it, tell us.

What Knoomi is

Knoomi estimates what you eat and what your body is doing, and uses that to suggest portions, pairings and timing. It works from what you tell it and what your device reports.

It is a guidance tool. It is NOT a medical device, it does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent anything, and it is not a substitute for advice from a doctor or a registered dietitian.

The numbers are estimates

This is worth its own clause, because it is the thing most likely to matter to you.

Calories, macronutrients, expenditure, hunger predictions and portion recommendations are ESTIMATES. They come from food databases that carry their own errors, from photographs a model interpreted, from activity your phone measured indirectly, and from equations that describe populations rather than individuals. Two people eating identical meals can genuinely need different amounts.

Treat them as a well-informed starting point that improves as you use it — not as measurement.

Health and safety

Talk to a qualified professional before changing how you eat if any of the following applies to you. Knoomi cannot know these things about you, and it will not adjust for them:

  • You have a medical condition affected by diet — including diabetes, kidney or liver disease, heart disease, or a thyroid condition.
  • You take medication whose effect or dosing depends on food.
  • You have, or have had, an eating disorder. Calorie tracking is not neutral for everyone, and for some people it makes things worse.
  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • You have a food allergy or intolerance. Knoomi may suggest foods it does not know are dangerous for you — always check the ingredients yourself.
  • You are under 18, or over 65 with additional nutritional needs.

Not for emergencies

Knoomi is not an emergency service and cannot summon one. If you think you are having a medical emergency, call your local emergency number.

Your subscription

Knoomi is sold as a membership, monthly or yearly. Prices are shown before you buy, in your own currency, by whichever store you are buying from.

IF YOU SUBSCRIBE IN THE iOS APP, Apple takes the payment. Your membership renews automatically, and Apple charges the next period within 24 hours of the current one ending, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it does. Cancel in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions; cancelling stops the next charge and leaves your access running until the period you already paid for ends. Deleting the Knoomi app does NOT cancel the subscription, and neither does deleting your Knoomi account.

IF YOU SUBSCRIBED ON THE WEBSITE, Stripe takes the payment and the subscription is managed through the link in your receipt or by writing to us. A website subscription unlocks the app too — you do not have to buy twice.

REFUNDS for App Store purchases are handled by Apple under Apple's policy; we cannot issue them, and Apple's decision is Apple's. For website purchases, write to us and we will deal with you fairly, including where the law gives you a cancellation right.

FREE TRIALS exist only where the store shows one on the purchase screen. If no trial is shown, there is none — we do not advertise trials that are not configured.

If we change the price, we will tell you before it applies to you, and you can cancel rather than accept it.

What we ask of you

Reasonable things, stated once.

  • Do not resell, redistribute or share your access.
  • Do not attempt to break, reverse-engineer or overload the service, or to reach other people's data.
  • Do not use it to build a competing dataset — automated scraping of our food data is not permitted.
  • Do not upload anything unlawful, or anything you have no right to upload.

Your data, and what we may do with it

What you enter stays yours. You grant us only the permission we need to run the service for you: to store it, process it, sync it between your devices, and send the specific content described in the Privacy Policy to the providers listed there.

We do not sell it and we do not advertise against it. When you publish a shared meal link, you are choosing to make that meal readable by anyone holding the link — and you can revoke it.

What is ours

The app, the site, the name, and the models and methods behind them are ours. Using Knoomi gives you a personal, non-transferable licence to use it, and nothing else.

Availability and change

We aim to keep Knoomi running, but we do not promise uninterrupted service: things break, providers have outages, and updates occasionally go wrong. Features change as the product develops; we will not remove something you are actively paying for without telling you.

Ending it

You can stop at any time by cancelling your subscription and, if you want, deleting your account from inside the app.

We may suspend or end an account that breaks these terms, or that we are required to close by law. Where it is fair to do so, we will tell you first and refund the unused part of a period you paid for.

Limits on our liability

Knoomi is provided as it is. To the fullest extent the law allows, we exclude implied warranties, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for decisions you make about your health on the basis of an estimate.

Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not permit us to limit. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.

Which law applies

These terms are governed by the law stated below, and the courts there have jurisdiction — except that, as a consumer, you keep the right to bring proceedings in the courts of the country you live in.

Write to support@knoomi.app. For anything about your data specifically, privacy@knoomi.app reaches the same people.

Changes to these terms

We update the date at the top when they change. If a change materially affects what you are paying for or what you agreed to, we will tell you before it applies, and you can cancel rather than accept it.
